I'm considering using a trailer for family bike transportation. I have a good tow bar rack which can take 4 bikes in a 3+1 combination, but am worried about the nose weight on the tow bar. it also requires quite a bit of faffing removing pedals, turning bars etc to get them all on. Even with this the bikes have suffered some paint damage from touching in transit. Judicial use of pipe lagging is required.

Does anyone use either an Erde or similar trailer with the roof bar carriers, or alternatively has anyone used the Pendle 6 bike trailer?

I am looking to carry 4 bikes.

If I get a trailer, the Erde camping type is attractive as this can also carry kit inside the trailer box and double as a triler for runs to the tip. Downside is this looks expensive as the GPR hard top, which you'd want for security, costs almost as much as the trailer body!
