It is January so we are looking for a summer holiday. Have been to Majorca and Menorca a number of times, but never here. Anyone been? What was it like?

I have an apartment on the outskirts of Santa Ponsa, so know it pretty well.

Its your fairly typical spanish holiday resort, it has a family bias, rather than a youth bias of say magalluf. You tend to get a lot of germans and irish staying there for some reason.

The beach is nice and wide and shallow, and well sheltered. There are the usual selection of Bars and restaurants.

Theres a decent bike guiding/hire company on the outskirts called tramunt bikes, run by a bloke called Toni. He can hire you a decent mountain bike or road bike and either let you get on with it or will take you on guided days out, if you’re that way inclined. If you’re going in peak summer it’ll be too hot for that though.

Went for years on the trot when our kid was young as she really loved the ‘square’. Stayed in various apartments and hotels over the years. Best apts were the Gran Santa Ponsa , best hotel was the Rey don Heimi (spelling). Good pubs, restaurants and clos to Palma Nova,Magaluf etc for day trips/ change of location. As previously mentioned can get very hot mid season.
