  • Anyone slow and rubbish riding Swinley tomorrow?

I sort of know the trails but a guide would be handy. Planning to try riding it fixed so any guide would have to be slow and rubbish to match my pace. I have been riding Lordswood reasonably successfully but not really ridden fixed in company so not sure how fast/slow I will really be.

Can you please let me know what time you will be at the Gully? I'm sure a LOT of people would pay good money to see you riding that fixed! 😉

To be honest, best bet is to loiter at the car park and ask someone nicely!

I thought I would try it fixed this weekend so I could decide whether or not to ride fixed or freewheel on the group ride. I don't want to hold everyone up on a group ride.

Nick – for crying out loud, get rid of that stupid bike 😯 You're falling apart as it is, do you honestly think the General want to see you again, even though you're on first-name terms?

Please don't bring that contraption to Swinley cos there's no guarantee that Dr.P will want to be "on call" 🙄

    Ride the Scott instead.

bikey – the word I would prefer is "assertive" 😉

After all, I don't want people to be too frightened to come next Sunday! It's easy being gobby behind a keyboard though.

I could meet you if your willing to accomodate my slowness on the flat and uphill as I will be riding a FR ht bike. Will be quick DH though 😀
So probably the opposite to a fixed s/s.

I could ride an xc ht if required

I might be about if you fancy it? I know it better than most. Email me if you fancy it! 🙂

Pete – could you take your toolbox with you? And point out the sign saying "No Fixies Allowed" 🙂

What will WCA get up to next 🙄

Am disappointed. Not one single portly chap wheezing on a fixie today. I looked all over, but there was nothing!

Labyrinth was great fun today! Trails lovely and dry all round. Marvellous.

We saw a fat guy on a fixie with carbon forks in the cafe – was that you?

WCA – please let us know that you're OK! Did Mr Poddy manage to talk some sense into you 🙄 Update needed.

Cap'n – are you joining in with the fun next Sunday?

CG, I'm out in the country next weekend, so will be riding the Plain instead! (Might be on a new CX bike as well, if I can finally make that jump!)

Ah, that was the fat guy we spoke with in the cafe.

This is what you need to 'slim' down your bike to a more acceptable weight:

OK, so WCA managed The Labyrinth (I think it is) but how was he at the end? Come on, WCA, give us a report!

He did pretty well actually, he can ride Swinley's 'technical' trails fixed with not too much of a problem.

WTF is that front tyre? Were you expecting a swamp?

    It's a cyclocross tyre. Don't ask. 😉

I enjoyed the ride. It was a bit bumpy coming down the Labyrinth as I tried to follow the trial, keep pedalling, stand up and control things all at the same time but apart from that, it was fine.

Normal big tyre will be back on the front for the weekend.
