My best friend is getting married in the Summer in San Gimigano, and I am the best man! I’m in the process of writing my best man’s speech.

As we are in italy, i want to start the speech in Italian, then make a quip about the fact no one else has learnt the language, so i will revert to English!

So to start, I want to say in Italian…

“Welcome everybody to this beautiful location on a very special day”

And to finish a simple toast for everyone to get involved with along the lines of ” Much Happiness”.

If anyone could oblige with the correct written translation i’d be grateful. I could use Google Translate but i don’t believe it always accurate.

And i’d also be grateful if the translation didn’t offend the mother of the bride etc!

    Thanks in advance.

    sorry, no

.. however, San GimigNano (in Tuscanny, dahling) is bloody lovely

Use your italian to ask if anyone in the room wants to marry you and let you live there (then say how lucky that your wife doesn’t speak Italian)

Start with “Sono molto dispiaciuto per Brexit. I miei connazionali sono cockwombles.”

That could be akin to ” don’t mention the war…”
