  • Anyone know of a good website to download 3D/CAD models of things?

I am looking for a yacht, boat or car I guess, of reasonable quality. I need to convert it to STL and my only tools so far are Blender and Meshlab, but i’m sure I will be able to convert most file-types with the right open source software.

    Thanks all for any help!

Free, or do you mind paying?

Free would be best, this isn’t for commercial use.

Free – not sure…. I usually pick up bits and bobs from the support side of the Solidworks site (though we’ve dropped support for a while, so that’s dried up), and have paid real-cash-money for the specific models (I think a surface map of the statue of Eros was ~£70 – don’t ask…..).

Maybe try some of the specialist forums for a favour – eng-tips.com is usually pretty active/helpful.

CBEN.NET does a fair few 3d work. Did have princess yachts 3D layotus but not sure what I’ve done with them

There’s oodles of free stuff on the Sketchup Warehouse site – mostly user generated so of massively variable quality/accuracy/scale though.

    Have you tried Turbosquid?

They do free stuff, cheap stuff and also very expensive stuff.
