If it goes like it did with my carbon/ti ones:

    – Buy tool after 2 rides on £200 pedals because they’ve seized
    – put tool in vice
    – place pedal onto tool
    – turn pedal
    – service pedals
    – discover the loctite was stronger than the body and that it’s actually cracked the pedal when it’s come undone
    – return for refund, buy good pedals, celebrate

Biggest POS ever. The answer is in there though, there’s a splined tool to undo it, mine were bastard tight, and then snapped rather than coming undone. They were the very first incarnation, but still. Have fun!

Do you still have the splined tool? 🙂

Buy splined Look quartz pedal tool (£2 from Rosebikes.com)

Read label on pedal tool. One has a left hand thread, the other a right hand thread. If all else fails, it’s the opposite of the thread on the pedal itself.

Unscrew retaining nut and pull out spindle. Clean and dry. Grease and reassemble, using the same £2 tool. Simples!

I rescued a pair of £200 carbon titanium Look quartz pedals that I got off ebay for £30 because the owner thought they were stuffed. They are serviced just the same way as Shimano SPD pedals.
