Hi daughter is looking at the Empire Mx6 evo as all day big hills bike, so winch and plummet – any owners or riders views thoughts?

What is the biggest tyre you can get in the frame?

Can you run it with a coil shock?

    Cheers

I test rode one, felt like a bike from the 90s. Very heavy and weird upright high bb type geometry. Worst bike I rode that day and I was looking for a winch and descend type bike, tried a hpa160, kona process, whyte g160, the empire felt far away the worst of all of them

Geometry is very dated, and there’s a very good reason that their manufacturing approach is unique.

There’s a thread in this very parish about that very frame the search function may be usedul

I seem to remember it having a weird I beam rear triangle, an engineer friend of mine spent some time explaining how that was both laterally flexy and really heavy. The guy from the shop did say that some people loved them though, I guess if you are in the market for a heavy duty bike with that sort of geometry there aren’t many other options

Avoid like the plague, truly appalling company to deal with above all else.

Mate has one. Bit of a tank but he seems to like it.

    +VES: They are Unique.

-VES: They are Unique for a reason.

Get an Orange 5 instead if you really want to ride heavy metal uphill….. 😆

This is exactly how I described one to a mate. Short, high and twitchy.

    Intriguing but cack.

I nearly bought one last year too. Looks like I had a lucky escape really…

Owners seemed to love them though.

frame weighs around 11lbs with shock and nothing else. its far far far too heavy. and thats the least of the problems.
