Just embarking on a major works project (new double garage and bike store).
Curently have a mahoosive water feature (think set of stone steps into large rectangle pond) which I would like to repurpose 2/3ds of into something else – it’s too big and the liner needs lifted as its leaking.

Having taken photos and sketched out a plan I am going to block off 1/2 into a pool for the water feature then use the remaining 2/3 for a wood store and pizza/outdoor oven. I can block up the plinth easily and then get it all rendered so there will be a flat surface filled with fill, sand, glass bottles etc.

Anyone built an oven or bought one – keen to hear real world experiences. It will be a nice little area once its done.

Get over to FornoBravo or the UK Wood Fired Oven forum for build info.
There are build plans on FornoBravo.

Waiting for our extension to be finished before I start building mine.

Don’t you live in Scotland I vaguely recall from another thread.

Are you mad ? You will have a warm enough day to use it around once every five years…

Oh come now hels, I used to live in Wellington so i’m well used to outdoor cooking in inclement weather ! In all seriousness we used our BBQ (OK its a gas one, don’t stone me) all through winter.

And we have an outdoor hot tub anyway if things get too cold.

Built an outdoor pizza oven last year
If you are doing it properley with refractory bricks, insulation etc
    Budget about £1200
Not cheap, but great feature in our garden

I’ve just done an oven building and bread making course at River Cottage.
Nice looking clay oven that could be built pretty cheaply, given a good source of clay. I can email the course notes, if you like.
