how about a skoda?

Having a poke about on t’internet I have found that the 1.8 SMAX would only cost me about £120 per year more in fuel* that The Mighty Vectra.

7 seats for freighting the inlaws about, bags of space with the 3rd row stowed so we can get all of our stuff un the boot and bikes on the top. We may have a winner. 😀

The SMAX was my original choice but I thought that the running costs would be prohibitive.

Diesels are the same as used in Vauxhalls, Fiats etc so good and reliable.
