My lad wants to get into go karting, he turns 6 next year so will be able to race bambino karts. He spends more time on his pedal go kart than anything else. I’ve been casually looking at petrol go karts online and I’ve come to the conclusion I fancy building one myself as a bit of a project.

It won’t be for my lad to race on, just something for us to mess about with together. I have a few spare smallish Honda engines in my workshop at work and being a time served plant engineer I’ve no problem snotting bits together etc, I’m just not sure which way to go about it?

I do have a couple of 95cc 2 stroke engines going spare and considered strapping one to a kettcar or similar but I imagine they may have a bit too much poke for him. Has anyone done something similar?
