I inherited some stamps as well a couple of years ago.
I bought from ebay a set of CD’s with Scott’s standard postage stamp catalogues on. They cost me a tenner (were copies).
I then slowly worked my way through the stamps identifying each one. Some are quite tricky as you have to check the water marks and perforations to truly identify them.
I used a forum (I think it was stampcircuit.com) for any stamps I got really stuck on (or were not in the catalogues). They were a helpful bunch. It is strangely addictive (I am ashamed to say!).
It is quite geographically educational!
