Saw lots of these today. Funnel shaped web with lots of baby spiders running around. The adult spider was usually to be seen at the top of the funnel, then scuttled off to the bottom of the funnel when I approached!

Can anyone identify the species please?

    Cheers

Not an expert but google suggests a labyrinth spider (rather than a funnel web which is poisonous)

    How big is the funnel?
A Macrothele Calpeiana (Andalucian Funnel Web Spider) web, is usually much thicker and white. The entrance will be about 1-2cm wide.

I have heard that they may be making the UK a home but that could be incorrect.

If it is, keep away as they are violent little buggers. 😀

Funnel is about 20mm – 25mm across. Agelena labyrinthica is looking correct – thabks all!
