We’d planned a week in Austria over the summer with bikes. Bit of XC/gentle downhilling. However, Jnr has been invited on a ski camp at Snowworld in Landgraaf, he cannot go alone and needs an adult to go with him. As a result we are reluctantly considering replacing a week in Austria with the trip to Landgraaf.

So my question is… Anyone know if there is any XC/gentle downhill riding in the area for me to do while Jnr is skiing? Or is there any relatively close by (couple of hours max) that we could drive to for the weekend after the cam has finished?

The area of the NL is Limburg/Maastricht (think Amstel Gold and World CX cup so hilly compared to the rest of the NL). Also close to the German border near Aachen and not far from Liege.

I’ve done Valkenburg & Epen and both were pretty good.

Thanks both. I did see that Filthytrails place.

Looks like there’s a trail just at the back of the ski slope too.

Yes – i lived in Sittard for a couple of years.

There are 3 separate but linked marked trails – the one at the back of the ski slope and 2 within the Brunssumheide near the NATO base.

There is also a fair few trails on the hill near Aachan (Dreilandenpunt)

Have a look at/work with MTB discovery – really nice group who all speak good English!
