Any reasonable Riding around St Ives / Hayle Cornwall ??

Have just booked a week holiday near St Ives / Hayle in cornwall and just wondering if its worth taking the mountain bike (SS) or the road bike for the week ?
Anything reasonable riding for a few hrs nearby ??

you could do the cornwall coast to coast starting in Portreath, just up the road from Hayle.
