Attach a normal cycle computer ( basic one that read distance) to the rear wheel whilst my bike is attached to the turbo trainer?

    Please excuse my ignorance.

    Thanks guys

Well cause your’re moving the wheels but you arent moving the computer will read negative mph. But they’re generally able to cope with that so yep basically you’re good to go. Not great for motivation though.

Lastly – most dont work well from the back wheel: tending to want to be mounted on the front for radio / battery reasons.

Only joking on the first bit obviously. Second bit is important.

The wire may well be too short.

Got mine wired up like that. Wire was a bit short so just zip tied the computer to the top tube just by the stem.

You can get long wire versions of some cateye models. I was told wireless ones won’t work.

I have a Cateye double wireless which works on the back wheel and has a magnet for cadence on the crank.

Cateye Astrale does cadence and was specifically designed to work on the rear wheel.

You can bodge older Polar sensors to work on the back wheel, and Garmin GSC-10 sensors work on the back wheel.
