Bit of a numpty one this 🙂

I have a Vaillant boiler supplying my hot tank and central heating

At this time of the year the system is ‘on’ but the ambient temp is above what I have the thermostat for my CH set to

I had thought if the CH stat knows its warm enough then the heating wont kick in

The thing is I have realised that the boiler is making noises, kind of maybe pumpy noises….
The water is off at the moment but the CH timer is on – and would kicking out heat be if it was cold but it isnt

So now for numpty question time

Does the CH run all the time when its set to be on at the timer?
By that I mean does the pump just circulate cold water through the system all summer?

And if so Im guessing its pretty pointless so should I just shut down the whole system?
Or is that bad for it and it wont come on again in October or something?

Ive never thought about it before
But if the pump is on all summer it seems a bit of a waste

    Thanks

Its not your hot tank stat calling for heat from the boiler is it? when the boiler is running, turn your tank stat down – if the boiler turns off then thats it.

some boilers have an ‘anti-seize’ function whereby the pump will run for a few minutes every 24 hrs say just to stop it seizing up

definitely shouldn’t run permanently or when there is no demand
