A bakers cyst is a symptom, albeit a painful one of another problem in the knee. It’s caused when swelling within the knee joint is pushed out the back of the knee between the muscle layer where it then become trapped.

Need to find out what is causing the swelling in the knee and try and reduce/manage that otherwise fluid will just be pushed out into the cyst again.

The MRI should be able to tell this as the most likely candidates are osteoarthritic changes in the knee joint (tib/femoral) or the patello femoral joints. Could also be caused by a degenerative meniscus.

Symptomatic treatment for the cyst would be by means of applying ice packs and perhaps a light compression bandage (tubigrip).

Triamcinolone. Just make sure you get a TUE.
