Get down to your local TK Maxx & you'll find a lot of brands (Inc howies, craighopper, regatta) kit cheap in their outdoors section.

Nike ACG stuff
Got a softshell and a Gore tex snowboard jacket by them - look good and they last well.They also appear on M and M's site as mentioned above

got an acg down jacket its warm and has some nice features such as storm proof fleecy cuffs

Mountain Designs, an ozzie outfit, I used to manage the two Auckland stores, their stuff is not in your face mountain man stuff as the name may imply, also have lifetime warranty.(Repair,replace or refund in that order)
