Just received a new blade for my lawn mower but I cant seem to remove the old one.I,ve tried brute strength but that hasn’t worked.I will leave some oil on it overnight.Any suggestions for its removal would be gratefully accepted.Cheers

PS,wonder if the damaged old blade has tightened the nut into the machine.I suspect it might loosen anti clockwise.

If you’re trying to loosen it clockwise, I think I may know what the issue is.

well fitting socket and long breaker bar. Hit the top of the socket with a hammer not the end of the breaker bar. Good fitting ring spanner if no socket set. Open end spanner will slip if given enough pressure

Most mowers use a conventional thread as they cut clockwise, this however means that a few do it the other way round. Where does the grass exit on your machine?

Bigger hammer to break corrosion seal, 6-sided socket and more leverage.

Breaker bar – big handle for a socket set

Its the usual mixture of entertainment, education and frustration being back

Stating the obvious it isn’t a left handed thread is it?

Mine always does this. Old socket wrench and give it a sharp whack with a hammer.
