Just upgraded mac software and it has killed my aol mail. And experience out there in terms of how to solve this?

Have you tried deleting the account (system preferences > internet accounts assuming Mavericks is the update) and then re-enabling it through Mail? ( Mail > Preferences > Accounts).

NB back up mailboxes BEFORE deleting the account.

    Thanks S’wich

I read that on a blog somewhere, but actually found a simpler answer. Turns our new s’warw was trying to read an old password even though It was changed years age. Found where the password was within mac and updated this and it was all fine.

For an IT numpty like me, I was quite proud of myself!!!!

    Even backed everything up first!!!

Mavericks does some odd stuff at times.

Mac Mail has been a bit grumpy recently, I noticed the last Mavericks upgrade did a Mail rebuild too. I would suggest you switch to gmail and/or icloud mail which are much better than AOL anyway, just switch the domain name part and keep the first part if you want some form of consistency. I think you are the only person I know with an AOL account ! With external 1tb drives costing £50 no reason not to run regular TimeMachine backups.
