I’ve been trying to think of an overnight circular route on CX bikes, say 40-50 miles day 1, then 20-30 miles on day 2. Terrain to be both roads and easy tracks (as we’ll have kit/panniers with us).
Any ideas gratefully received as I’ve got none

Mary townley loop and settle loop on the pennine bridleway both spring to mind. Maybe start at one end, e.g. round waterfoot, ride north on one side of each loop, overnight in settle, then ride south using the oither side of the loops

I though Mary Towneley Loop would be a lot of off-road.
How much ascent is on it? We’re fat unfit blokes

it’s off road, but it’s all rideable on cx bikes. no idea on the climbing sorry, I don’t really bother about that side of things, I just follow people

Do you want to enjoy or endure yout trip?

In that case avoid the Mary Townley unless you like torture.

What about the Leeds/Liverpool canal and train back with pub stops?

Got just what you need, but you might have to wait a bit cos I’ve not had my tea yet.

Where do you want to start from, and where would you like to stay, are you camping or b&bing?
