    Bit of a weird one,
I sat an IGCSE English exam today and thought i was doing really well untill th chap who was sat in with us called 5 mins left and i realized i was not going to finish my last question.

what happens if you dont finish a question and leave it mid sentence??
do you get marked down or do you lose all marks for that question (it was worth 20 marks so quite a biggy!!)

    cheers

I'm not an examiner, I'm a teacher. You will not lose any marks. You will be credited marks according to a very specific mark scheme. So, if you have covered the point sufficiently well you will be given marks for what you have done. Areas you missed out will obviously score zilch 🙁 .

Next time work a bit faster if you can. I know, easier said than done.

If you run out of time switch to bullet points. The examiner has a criteria for marking which they tick off as they read your answer.

English – set out the key ideas of your answer in bullet points.
Maths etc – set out the formula, don't bother with the calculation, it might only be 1 mark.
