Circumscribed halo on Sunday, from Elstead. Sundogs, and I think a hint of a parhelic circle. Must start taking my proper camera out!

Ooo. Nice. Hard to pick out the parhelic but I think I can just about see it on the left of the sun. Cool.

(Wasn’t like that up here on Sunday…)

Some anticrepuscular rays from the train this evening.

Not too impressive to look at, but kind of fun to spot. Bit of notional Eye-Spy points scoring, I guess!

As a long-time Cloudspotter member, I’m constantly looking at clouds and the sky in general.there was a 22 degree solar halo a couple of weeks ago that lasted most of the afternoon, and sundogs are something I always like to see.
Kelvin-Helmholtz formations are one of my favourites, only ever seen two.

Present for you, CZ: a mate of mine saw these in Fernie, BC, a few weeks ago:

He’s a keen surfer. He was stoked.

Is a double rainbow interesting enough for this thread?

    I like Rainbows too!

Having said that , I could never understand why Bungle was bollock naked during the day but put pyjamas on to go to bed. 🙂

    Everyone likes a rainbow!

At the beach yesterday, plenty of cirrus about, and we all know what that means!

    one of these:

a contrail shadow (with all the fluffy bits included!) a bit more of the halo, and a stonker of a parhelic arc.

Have yet to get the K-H photos to where I can link to them, but the halo I mentioned is this one, and I’m not sure, but looking at it again there seems to be a hint of a parahelic arch at the top and bottom:

Right, here we are, taken back in 2013 between Uffington White Horse and Wayland’s Smithy, near Wantage, a miracle I actually spotted it:

Oooh. Not an expert by any means but if that’s not a proper KH thingy then it’s a very good impression of all the other ones I’ve seen pictures of. Very nice…

    missed that, CZ, very nice!

Saw this a couple of days ago. A small snippet of Circumzenithal Arc. very colourful! I was in the garden, with a few people passing on the path. I showed everyone who passed by while it was there, and they were all happy and grateful! 😀

Ooo, that’s pretty! It’s amazing how many people never spot things like sundogs. Well spotted.

Well I’ve learnt some cool stuff this morning! Never heard of any of those terms, but loved the pictures, have googled and now will be looking upwards a lot more!

    😀 @ bigdaddy!

There was a good ice halo round the moon tonight. I didn’t get to my camera in time, but here’s one from the same spot a couple of years ago:
