Having spent a bit of time “in the woods” over the last few years I have noticed that the trails are getting really badly eroded in places. so for the winter i fancy getting a s/s cx bike especially after riding a mate’s spesh singlecross ’round swinley on sunday. it was great on the fireroads and not too bad on the singletrack so….. Any recomendations or advice on which of these contraptions is worth looking at, mt preference would be for a frame interchangeable between s/s and geared and what’s the crack with discs on cx bikes are there any reasons why you would/wouldn’t…..

    thx

    Genesis Day One?

I’d be more likely to go with the Day One Alfine myself (but then I regard gears as a good thing) especially as it comes with disks.

nice try – this helping the environment / reducing erosion in some way ? 😉

other than that – excellent idea

Narrower tyres = deeper tracks = worse ruts = worse erosion surely.
