My build budget is spiralling and rather than fit a heavy £40 BB to get my hussfelt cranks that i had lying around… i may as well get a new lighter setup. Have £100 to spend… anyone seen any good deals for 1×9??

Im presuming this will be fine if i just remove the big and small chainrings to run it 1×9??

I’m pretty sure the m761 cranks are not quite the same as normal m760 XT. Because they are designed with the larger chainrings in mind they have a wider axle to space the crank out a bit further. I only know this because people have used them in the past as a lightweight DH crank because the wider axle means they can be squeezed into a 83mm BB frame rather than your normal 68/73mm. Using them on a normal 1×9 single ring would be ‘ok’, but you would have a wider q factor and the middle ring would be slightly further out than desired.
