It was agreed that he would charge by the hour – at £45 plus vat. It was also agreed that the deadline was by 27 March 2010. (Gave him the car on 1 March). He came recommended so I had no reason to suppose he would try to stripe me.
I believe he overbooked himself, and got behind with my car. Instead of telling me that, so I could have made other plans, he and his wife decided to string me along. Obviously I became more and more annoyed about it as the time passed and they were dragging their heels.
Ended up with a row on the phone with his wife on the Saturday morning (of the 27th – when the car was supposed to have been back with me) – the gearbox wasn't even back in it at that point. She threatened that if I continued to kick off she would shut up shop at 1pm that day and my car would stay there until Monday.
Finally picked it up at 7.30 that evening. I asked for the time to be itemised, but only the work is. I am asking the solicitors at work to write a letter, I want the hours broken down, but first I need to get a feel for whether he has overcharged me or not.
