Not going to need retina burning trail lights so no need for expensive off road stuff. Not sure what’s good for general street riding other than just look for something good solid bright and don’t use flashing at the front, or have both solid with flashing combined.
The number of times I’ve been driving and nearly missed seeing someone with a weedy and slow flashing front light. If it blinks once a second, then you can miss it when you blink!
That said get as much as possible to make yourself noticed. Was nearly run over on my bike while coming round a roundabout and I had the stupidly bright MTB lights, indicating properly, but still she pulled out without noticing me.
Don’t forget the rear also. Flashing okay round street lit areas. I’d stick it on solid and bright for unlit roads or again combined flash and solid.
There are also breathing lights that are always on but they pulse like a flashing light.
