In my continuing attempts to get the wife into using the van with me I’m taking her away for the night to a local campsite (assuming we can get someone to look after the dogs). She likes her comforts and I’m keen to get her on-side, so I was thinking about getting an awning for the van to maximise the space for camping and to give us somewhere to cook, etc.

It seems to be a clear cut race between something designed for the van as a driveaway and something designed to be added to a tent, with the later cheaper and easier/quicker to put up. Does anyone here have recommendations for both types? It doesn’t need to be made of unicorn hair and love, just be a place out of the wind, rain and general British summer weather.

Midge-proof is a bonus, but if she doesn’t enjoy the weekend away, I strongly think the proposed Islay/Jura trip will be biting the dust.
