I have a race-face respond cranks on my alpine and ive just renewed my chain cassette jockeys, 2 front rings, so when i got home everything was fine until i realised the Shimano middle ring didn't fit my crank and was told it would fit because i didn't want to spend shed loads on a race-face ring, any way it didnt fit so i rang the shop and they said i had to file the ends down until it fits on, alot of people have the same problem so they customize the cheaper steel rings to save money, imo why do they make them like this to make people buy the more expensive gear? do they do it on purpose? i nearly slashed my finger off trying to grind the ends down, i eventually got it on and it works fine but after spending about £80 on the lot i shouldent have to do this, im not having ago at anyone here its just a rant to find out if anyone else has had this problem ? cheeeeeers!

Yep. But I just filed down the corners of two tabs and it fitted perfectly.
Yeah, you'd expect rings of the same 'standard' to fit all chainsets of that standard, but hey ho.
Annoying, I agree.

Good
- No sentence structure
- No paragraphs
- Stream of conciousness
- No real point to the postBad
- No swearing
- No capitals
- No random threats
- No/few misspellings
- semi-reasonable point hidden in thereOverall
3/10 could do betterPosted 10 months ago # -
Should have given them 4000 2p pieces and told them to file them down into pounds.

very poor rant 1/10. No swearing, no bad spelling, no caps.
You want to rant about having to alter one manufacturers rings to ring another manufacturers crankset? Really?
Shimano Deore rings, won't fit shimano XT cranks without filing, just get on with it

Oh God that's wrong as well....you know what I mean

to make people buy the more expensive gear?
Yes
do they do it on purpose?
Yes
I've had similar problems. Luckily my LBS is sympathetic to this sort of things and always willing to get "Medieval" on components if required!
Glad you managed to get everything to fit in the end, don't give in to the marketing!

So you dont want to spend a shed load of money on the correct part and have to 'customise' a part ot fit.....sorry but I dont think you can rant about anything there fella. 2/10 (you dropped 2 points for severe lack of CAPS)

As has already been pointed out, it was going fairly poorly anyway. There were certain areas showing promise. No structure. Poor grammar. Rambling.
But... BUT.... "im not having ago at anyone"
Oh dear. What a terrible faux pas. You've just completely undermined your credibility old chap
When you reach that point, that's when you're meant to completely lose it and start throwing accusations about in a stream of vitriolic abuse. And threats of random violence. All with lots of random caps and exclamation marks.
D- I'm afraid. Must try harder
