I have finally got round to fitting 2 stainless steel eyed bolts to my garage door. Mounted through 6 x 2 screwed into the wooden uprights , reinforced with 4 x 2 screwed into the blockwork.
The problem with that is its 45 seconds with a battery angle grinder to cut through the door and remove section of metal the size of a packet of 20 Bensons and the door opens .- leaving the locks attatched to the eyes and the theif doing a little dance of joy
So i need to mount a panel , approx A3 sized ,to make angle grinding an awful lot harder. Obv 10mm plate would do the job . But this is heavy and wont fit in with what I have already built .
Needs to be 3-4mm max depth and something that is a ball ache to cut . My thinking is Nylon 66 which will just melt over the cutting disc and foul it very quickly , or ally , which will also melt.
The neds wont be carrying different discs for different materials , so they will probably go equipped with a 1mm steel cutting disc so its got to be something that is slow/difficult/ annoying to get through . Ti? chainsaw trousers ? Ally? plywood? bar or box could go in as its a channeled up and over style door .
What say you ??
