    a phone without a sim? That’s basically what a touch is, isnt it?

    Pretty much, you can use it with Skype and a headset as a VoIP phone, and I don’t think the a Touch has any GPS capability, which is a bit of a shame, it would make a good navigation device loaded with OS Maps.

    if you just want the music player side then take a look at Cowon players.
    i have just bought an X9 to replace my 1st gen ipod touch. plays better quality music files (flac) as well as video files. also has expandable memory.
    got my 32gb X9 from ebay for £105 delivered.
