Just announced retirement aged 33. Apparently his body cannot put up with the rigours of the sport. One of the very best. In a sport packed full of egos and attitudes, he was a gentleman and a true role model. Plus his dad was Irish so he was ‘almost’ one of ours.

Glad he has called it a day when he has realised his time is up. Body or Brain. Not good to continue if either is not 100% able to do so. Loddrick above has it spot on.

Kovalev fights leave a bad taste.

Boring fighter defensive style like Floyd Mayweather. Yet Mayweather kills PPV and Ward squibs it. Just because of hype?

A shame to see him retire but at 33 maybe wise, he is a genuine ‘classy operator’ as Jim Watt likes to say on commentary.
While everyone bangs on about Mayweather Jr’s defense, which is obviously brilliant, Wards is also top notch but unlike Mayweather he could also get on the front foot and be slick and imposing which makes him ten times more watchable
Genuine P4p right now for me, a real talent.

Apart from when he’s headbutting opponents.

Unreal talent that was as exciting as watching paint dry. Cleaned up at SM and was definitely the man. LHW adventure was successful but a definite question mark over the first Kov win and possibly the second.

Very under appreciated boxer. He dominated Froch in every dept, and whilst run close by Kovalev … he showed his class to ultimately get the win.

Just a shame SOG didn’t really have a big personality, or even an opponent with a big personality to have really sold him to the wider public.
