    Is this back open again?

Hearing wee snippets that it is, trying to work out where to overnight in the van on saturday, all the nearest campsites seem to be shut, this would be ideal…

    Anyone?.

Do you need to be in Ambleside? We used NT campsite at great Langdale with our van in Feb last year, was good. Also have used lay-bys on A591 just north of Grasmere before the Fred. While it’s on the main road, it’s really quiet at night.

This time of year, just park wherever looks good and don’t worry. It’s really quiet and there are plenty of options. Just avoid places with parking cameras like white moss. Rydal car park over bridge from a591 would be good I would think.

I heard late last year that it had re-opened but don’t know for sure. I ended up overnighting in my van at the Horse and Farrier pub at Threlkeld.

Aye, riding buddy is a bit of a tart and has booked a B&B in town, easier for us to have food and a beer if I’m in town…

I’d have thought Rydal rd would have cameras.
