An ereader is currently top of my christmas list, and i’m considering the kindle.

But i can’t really find out how it handles PDF files.

Can i just drag and drop via USB and open the PDF or does it need to go through some Amazon conversion software before the reader can recognise it?

Don’t know about the Kindle specifically, but the various ereaders on my phone will open PDF files, but there’s no formatting, each page opens in its entirety, and you have to zoom and scroll side to side and up and down to read properly. Ok with a few pages, but a bit of a bu99er when it’s a book of several hundred pages. There is software to convert PDF files to ebook format, but it’s a bit tedious.

you can view PDFs as they are, pics and all (via drag and drop) or convert them to the kindle format to read as text only (by emailing them or a free programme)
