  • Alu post in Ti frame slipping…

I have a Ti 456 with an alu post and the standard On-One QR collar, and the damn post slips, I’ve done the collar up proper tight and it’s put grooves in the post because it still BLOODY slips!

I tried paste, I tried it clean and now I’ve come to the conclusion it needs a double collar, one thats clamps the post and the frame.

Anyone got any other solutions as I would like to keep a QR as I put the post up and down when I switch between road and trail.

Ps. Not got the cash for a Reverb 🙁

Try a different post? some posts can come up a little undersize.

Sounds like it’s the wrong size post to tube combo.

Worth a go, but as the bike was a complete build from One-One, I’m hoping they’ve got it right?

I have the same Ti – Alu combo. Not slipped or seized once.
So sounds like the tolerances might be slightly out on either the tube or the post (hopefully the post of course). If it was the wrong size I doubt you would be able to clamp it at all….?

Thomson are good. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

…..unless the seat-post has been greased. If it has get rid of it all as this will cause it to slip.

although I’ve heard more tales of woe re: slipping posts and Thomson being slightly undersized than any other brand.
