    following on from Surf Mat’s post about reproofing, I have 3 Altura React garments (2 jackets and 1 pair 3/4’s). Altura say use Grangers, but the care labels says no tumble dry. Grangers says use tumble dryer to reactivate DWR. ❓

    Use nikwax reproofer then, does not need heat to activate…but does a better with heat.

    Will just be an agreement between brands…same distibutor or something like that.

    ..I’ve seen that on labels before – it’s the manufacturer being ultra-cautious – the DWR will benefit from heat, but due to quite a number of people destroying jackets and trousers by using hot irons(!) the current advice is that no heat is ‘safer’, ie if they’ve told you not to do it, there’s no come back if you do apply heat to the jacket. Kind of like the increasing number of garments stating ‘dry clean only’.
