    Having done Snowdon both ways and also Cadair Idris, can anyone recommend some alternative mountain rides to try in North Wales?

    there are some good tracks over on the berwyn range– n e wales,mid wales is spoilt with routes that are wild, not as used as the north

    There’s technically 3 ways you could ride down Snowdon…

    Tal y Bont route takes you into the Rhinogs. There’s Drum near the coast.

    Whatsthe Fford Ddu route?

    One of the lesser known Mountains is Aran Fawddwy.

    No idea how rideable but have heard that it’s harder than Snowdon or Cader for climbing. It’s slightly higher than Cader as well.

    Let me know if you try it.

    Lots of ideas, thanks very much. I’ll have the map out over the weekend now!

    Elidir Fach?

    Up through the quarry, then a carry over the boulders to the summit.

    Drop down to Nant Peris via one of the sheep tracks on the other side.

    Cheekier than farting in church, but must be doable by SOME idiot. 😀

    @dti.

    I live near Aran Fawddwy and have planned a route. It will involve carrying, bogs and pain, but might result in a 7km descent.

    Are you local enough to come try it?

    @Rusty Spanner – SSSHHH! If it is to be done – then do it very early!

    @daveevs – a quick check on bikehike tells me that there’s significant amounts of flat and up in those 7km, but it still looks like A Grand Day Out.

    Was planning on doing Moel Siabod recently but had to change plans at last minute. Have heard it goes!
