    Nature Valley granola bars.

re. replacing salt. I saw a paper which suggested that you don’t lose enough salt through sweating to warrant replacing them, but what happens is people drink too much, thus diluting the salts and making them less effective… i think.

Rice Crispie Squares for me. And haribo. Coeliac disease means no oats or wheat, and having some awareness of flavour and texture means no 9 Bars. “mmm, you can really taste the hemp”

Haribo tangfastic. Nothing beats fizzy cola bottles.

There’s a weird vegan baker who sells cakes on Hebden Bridge market who makes a snack bar consisting of squidgy chocolate, peanut butter and rice crispies and is unexpectedly tasty and efficacious.

Am taken by the idea of Eccles cakes. Must remember to get some.

Never do a big ride without sausage butties in my pack. Make them while the sausages are warm so all the butter melts into the bread, does the job a treat.

Jelly babies, jelly beans and chocolate brownies have all come in handy at various times too.

I’ve used maltloaf, currently use jaffa cakes.

    Have known of people using:
    Malt loaf and marmite. 😯
    Rocky road.
    Banana and bacon toasties.

Traidcraft Geo bars are my current favourite – £1 for a pack of 5 at Tesco at the moment.

Plus a few Haribo from a tub I keep in the cupboard and transfer to a little bag pre ride.

Pretty much anything with some form of sugar in it.
