Off to the Alps tonight, just wondered if there is any easy tricks/tips for getting through Dover/Calais beyond wearing a tin hat these days?

Allow plenty of time. Book eurotunnel in future. IME delays are far worse on the ferries (not their fault). We travel on eurotunnel every 4-6 weeks.

We see far fewer asylum seekrs these days, here was a time where they where hanging around in groups by roadside and walking up the motorway 50k before Calais. Large camp right next to main road/port has been partially cleared. Any issues you may have will be on the return but really cars are not the target, its trucks / larger vans. Take care if you stop within 100k of Calais, ensure vehcile is locked and check upon your return, again not really an issue with normal cars.

    Happy holidays

Other way around for me…few years back got bored of paying extra for the ‘speed’ of Eurotunnel then getting delayed. Since then always gone by ferry and not had any issues so far…just back from France last week and experienced no delays either way.

Do hate the new ‘experimental’ 40 zone on the A20 before you come into Dover though. Plus there’s current roadworks along the seafront section 🙄
