Been meaning to post this question for a while and the Bourg d’Oisans thread reminded me.

We are off to Alpe D’Huez at the end of August. I’ve never been but the trail map looks pretty extensive so hopefully it should be fun. And dry, fingers crossed.

Anyone here have any experience to relate?

Are the trails XC, DH or somewhere in the (“enduro”) middle? We are trying to work out whether to dust off our DH bikes (yay!) or take our mid travel bikes instead.

We are staying at Oz station so any pointers to good trails, food stops, nice restaurants greatly appreciated.

If looking beyond the lifts, and you should, mid travel. Away from the lifts though you’ll want to organise van uplift.

    IGN carte 3335 ET. 1:25000.

There’s also 2Alpes next door. There, XC means uphill, Downhill means just that, and Enduro means added gnarr.

The road riding there is superb as well of course.

I’ve only been once but Oz is very quiet in summer, not much open at all!
