Mainly because the brewery doesnt exist anymore and once its gone thats it.

it's for drinking and p***ing up the wall, not for keeping.
it will thank you for drinking it.

Agreed, but it could be the last of its kind and i OWE it to humanity to save it for future generations or some other bollox.
Might just cane the lot on a bender this evening.

Also got a bottle of Eldridge Pope - Thomas Hardys Ale (11%) from 1995 which I cant bring myself to drink. Mainly because the brewery doesnt exist anymore and once its gone thats it.

By far the best beer i've drunk was a bottle of Thomas Hardy i bought in the early 80's that somehow i'd managed to keep for about 18 years. I've drunk un-aged Hardy & it was nothing like that. It lost all the "barley wineyness". Absolutely lovely.

I regret not keeping a case of the proper Gales Prize Old Ale in corker bottles back for ageing. That would be stunning.

peterfile has it right. For me it'd have to be the Rochefort Tripple.

Bath Ales Festivity Porter.

The in-laws brought down a wee keg of it from Bath the last couple of Christmases. It's magic. Very, um, festive.

Also novel opening up the keg and pouring from that, rather than from a bottle, which adds to the sense of occasion.
