This article on today’s BBC may be of interest if you’re trying to lose weight, but still enjoy a daily pint.

The BBC is an embarrassment; a shell of once aspirational ideal of truth and impartiality, that now just delivers click-bait bollocks, Chris Evans, and Mrs Browns Boys.

    Not really.

If you don’t get why I think that, then that’s fine, pal 🙂

In tests on mice, alcohol activated the brain signals that tell the body to eat more food.

    Shocking!

Well I’ll just make the point that science has to prove the bleedin’ obvious sometimes, because if it’s not proven then it’s not “fact”.

And presenting news in an easy-to-understand manner that relates to people’s lives is not really a bad thing.

Alcohol flips brain into hungry mode

    Tomorrow’s BBC Headline

Yes it might seem obvious to those of us who enjoy a post pint curry or kebab, but the study is really about understanding the mechanism not the effect.

Yes, and isolating the effect from other social effects.

General public in science fail SHOCKER.

According to the link, two thirds of adults in the UK are overweight or obese. That’s pretty shocking IMO. I’d say presenting facts about eating in a simple to understand way may be a good thing.

I’d say presenting facts about eating in a simple to understand way may be a good thing.

It would, but it won’t make any difference. When people can eat unheathily more easily, more cheaply and with more taste (to them) than the healthy option they will take the unhealthy option.

Take the option away and you would see a major change – how may people were overweight in 1950….

A good way to enjoy drinking lots while negating the need for kebabs is to take up cocaine and smoking

    Or cannabis.
Well known to promote a healthy, controlled diet.

BTW, you very rarely get bald alkies.
All to do with the effects of alcohol on testosterone.

    Always the odd exception though.

“Alcohol makes you eat more” may be the bleedin’ obvious but “rather than loss of restraint, it is a neuronal response” is less so.
