  • Aiston rack with detachable towbar?

    Hi all,

    Want to fit a detachable towbar to my Alfa 147.

    Also want to get an Aiston towbar mounted bike rack.

    Anyone successfully managed to use an Aiston with a detachable towbar?

    I have the aiston rack, I can't see anyway you could fit it to a removable towbar as the bracket that gets left on the car when the rack is removed fastens behind the towball. Same idea as this pendle rack http://www.pendle-bike.co.uk/shopping/Behind-the-Ball-Mounting-4-Bike-Rack.php

    Unless you could get someone to fabricate you a bar that fitted into the removable towbar fitting on the car and provided you with the two bolt holes required? Sounds like alot of work to me, you might be better with a thule or similar that fits onto the towball? The alternative would be to have a fixed towbar and not have the towball fitted?
