I’m thinking that this end of this year it’s about time to remind myself how much I don’t like riding the trails at Afan. If I’m going there then I’d very much like to ride blaengarw too as I never have. It looks like driving to blaengarw is a right pain, is there a way to ride there and pick up the trail from Afan?

    Cheers!

Easy enough. Sustrans trail from Afan car park to Croeserw, then waymarked tarmac Sustrans up the hill south. Follow the obvious bridleways round Mynydd Caerau down into Blaengarw (forestry tracks). There’s a fenced off landslip zone above Blaegarw but it’s stable, just hop over the fence at each side. Perfectly enjoyable little ride, doesn’t take long as a round trip; I combined it as a day trip from Glyncorrwyg with the Blade and White’s Level routes. Pretty obvious when you look at a map.
