Got a new computer. Installed McAfee and working fine. Now I can’t get rid of what I think is adware slowing everything down and in constantly getting pop up windows blocked. Anyone know a good, free adware removal programme or something I can use to stop this? Every time I install one it asks for money afterwards and it’s a pain to install with how slow computer is. (I’m posting this my phone)

    That ^^

Uninstalling McAfee and using something not crap would be a good start too.

Brilliant, now I can use my PC! Thanks!

A better Anti Virus? What would you recommend?

Microsoft Security Essentials is a highly regarded AV suite.

    McAfee is horrid.

“Suite” is a bit of a reach, but yes, MSE for Windows 7. It’ll be Defender on a new PC though I’d expect.

I’ve been using the free version of AVG for many years now with no problems.

Ah, you probably started using it back when it was good. (-:

Still using it and still not got a virus so it must still be good 🙂

Defender is okay, or I like bitdefender’s free anti-virus. Only problem with it is that it occasionally opens a little pop-up to try and get you to sign up for their mailing list or whatever. Don’t know why they’ve done this because it makes it look amateur hour.

Anyway, it regularly tops av-test.org’s tests, for speed & performance so I put up with it.

ETA: That mcafee vid is great
