I work along a very nice chap who’s in his 60’s. He took me to one side today for a chat and to ask my advice. So, with his permission, the senario is as follows:
He rang up his doctor’s to make an appointment and when asked by the receptionist what it was about, got told that the doctor would phone him next week. Anyhow, sure enough the doctor called and he asked could he be prescribed Viagra (for the usual reason). He was told no and that he should buy it from the internet (only prescribed for guys who’ve had some for of medical surgery etc.). Well he’s asked me where to buy it from and I’ve no idea which site or company would be reputable – so any ideas? I’m also finding it a bit strange that he would have been given this advice.

I would have thought that a chemist or Boots online ( other online pharmacies are available ) would have been a good starting point to help your “friend” get a starting point.

Your ‘friend’ can buy it from reputable pharmacists on line or in the shop. Er, i’m told.

I would have thought Lloyds Pharmacy would be a reputable supplier.

So excuse my ignorance but can you buy it without a prescrition? This was one of his questions?

You shouldn’t buy goods from hardened criminals.

Anybody can go to their doctor and ask for a private prescription*. The NHS will only pay for medicines that treat a current condition but when I went and asked for Ciproflaxacin (when I was off to windsurf in Cape Verde where tummy bugs are rife) he wrote me a private script.

Oddly the tablets cost less than they would have done with an NHS prescription.

*anyone can ask, doesn’t mean the doctor has to write it if he or she’s a grumpy git.

A chap i know about 35, took some viagra, and ended up with a throbbing erection, that didnt go down,after a few hours it started to hurt, he eventually got admited to hospitial via a and e, and it was a chance he may have needed an amputation due to gangreen setting in.

Your friend is lying to you either to wind you up or because he is looking for a reputable source without going to the doctor…

(1) I’ve never known a doctor’s receptionist ask what the appointment was for unless I was being particularly demanding that the appointment must be today/tomorrow, and then I usually volunteer the fact that the person involved is “dying”.

(2) I doubt many GPs do ‘viagra’ consultations over the phone. Given that there are a number of clinical and psychological indications I would have thought they would want a face to face chat. I don’t know this for sure, but whenever I’ve spoken to a doc on the phone I’ve always ended up going to see them – but on quite different topics!

(3) It would be inappropriate advice to get viagra on line. Viagra is a prescription only medicine. Although it is POM some pharmacists are allowed to prescribe it – but they need to see you and do a consultation. There are no UK pharmacies licensed to supply POMs via the Internet without a prescription AFAIK.

You know if you don’t have any problems in that area, but you take some anyway. What happens then?
