To be fair, once technology gets to the stage where it *seems* to be easy, everyone's a **** expert. It's been endemic in the IT trade for many, many years. Everyone knows a bloke. And as a result the overall quality of service goes down and it doesn't matter if someone turns up who really does know what they're doing, they're treated in the same contemptuous manner.

    In a slightly related vein.
I stopped trying to earn money as a sideline by helping people with their computers at home because some bloke they met down the pub would feed them a load of crap and undermine anything useful I'd done for them or they'd read something on the internet which gave them the opportunity to royally cock everything up themselves and then blame me. Plus once you've helped someone once, you're aparently on beck and call 24*7 completely free of charge after that.
