Hi all,
Wanting to create a bent length of wood, so going to glue a number of thin strips along a curved form.
First off – any initial suggestions for laminating adhesives?
I understand I want a plastic resin glue (urea formaldehyde glue). Something that has a very strong hold, slow set time (to allow me to apply it and set up the former), and doesn’t cost too much..
Unibond 800 is generally recommended, but is not available in the UK.
Others recommend Aerolite 306 (http://www.axminster.co.uk/aerolite-306-glue-pack?gclid=Cj0KEQiAwaqkBRDHx6rzxMqAobgBEiQAxJazJxQxmbKxW__rXqcFFdCUhVF3NfncD4d8eDIkCsGCH_EaAsd38P8HAQ)
But I also read that adhesives with water in them are more prone to creep over time (and you mix water into Aerolite 306)?
Any thoughts?
And while we’re on the topic – thoughts on best woods, which won’t cost the earth?
Ta,
Duane.
