OK so just back from the hernia clinic. (Have just about had enough of having my junk fondled by medical professionals over the last 7 years)

Let’s get the jokes out of the way first. I really need some pointers!

Long time ago I slipped while carrying a full steel keg and twanged something at top of left groin. GP said to rest it and take NSAIDS. I did. Improved over the months and then forgot about it for a while. Sometimes long drives gave me ball-ache on the left side (were injury occurred, I drive an automatic so leg just sits idle, yet aches)

Anyway spring this year I did some damage to same place whilst moving house three times then going mad in gym on rowing machine/spinning burnout in attempt to lose weight fast. Annoyed at gym induction as they didn’t inform me that my rowing technique was all wrong until it was too late. Told again by GP to take NSAIDS.

Then went bowling six weeks back and later same day slipped/corrected self whilst attempting running in muddy field.

*TWANG*. (Actually more like a dull ‘pop’ and then deep burning)

This time GP suspected inguinal hernia. But hernia clinic today say not. Just to ‘rest’ and call in three months if not better. Could kick self, I didn’t ask the specialist which damaged muscle/s he was referring to. I’m guessing an adductor?

It’s getting me down I can’t even cycle up a moderate hill without it burning/threatening. Sleepless nights. Aching nads, aching thigh/pelvis, shooting pains all on left side.

Anyone else had this? How can I speed the healing? Ultrasound? Special exercises? Amputation?

I’m primary carer for Mrs MR so need to be ON IT all of the time. Now told to rest!! Gah.

I’m not an expert, but many years ago I had a groin problem when something twanged and I was in agony from it. I was desperate to get back to my footie but kept coming back too soon and despite lengthy wam ups, it would go again when sprinting flat out.

The upshot was that I had to give up footie for a whole season and came back the following year with a few twinges but no problems.
