I’ve seen that before, it’s proper hard. I really do think that adhering to **** H&S BS takes something away (not a dig, just an observation). I reckon a tough mudder inspired CX event would be so much fun. Proper arduous stuff. Bring on the wacky racing!

That’s the Vags race video that’s been knocing about for a while isn’t it? Great video. You’d have to bunnyhop the bouldering mats these days.

The bit about the referee cracks me up every time.

That’s pretty much how my rides end up when I pop down a cheeky gravel road that I maybe shouldn’t be down

Proof that there is no need for fancy carbon frames & disc brakes….

I like the bloke trying to hurl his bike over the river!

Love the river crossing – hurl your bike as far as you can then jump in after it.

Indeed. Not if you can hardly ride any of the course! 😉
Doesn’t look my idea of fun. I like to keep “get-offs” to a minimum.

born in 1959 we had rules about watching TV but sport on a saturday afternoon was allowed after the horse racing had finished we got wrestling and cyclocross presumably it was cheap to cover

Is that the thing about running backwards and falling over or sommat?

That’s how it was done. 🙂

Count the fixies in the race!

TLI would be all over it though – we can’t do river crossings but we can do singletrack and more MTB stuff 😉

we’ve talked about, and looked at recreating this race in our club. unfortunately the land owners have changed significantly over the last 50 years, but we’re still looking to scope out a potential route this winter…

we’ll see what we can work out.

Eric Potts is still going strong, a very active member of our club, and occasionally races our club 10…

“He runs everywhere backwards… He’s been run over twice!”

    IIRC

There’s talk of a Tesco manager in the commentary!

That is all sorts of ace. Every time you think you ‘need’ a new part you should watch that and then realise that you just need to ride more

One which any half decent singlespeed event will actively encourage…

Wonderful stuff- compare that to complaints about the lack of ‘flow’ at a trail centre whilst on 6k of carbon fullsus….

    Too late. Google is everywhere.

It’s ‘cross. Doesn’t do much for me.

In 1980 Gary Fisher was second in the California state ‘cross championships, riding a Ritchey.

^ Looks like someone couldn’t be bothered to watch the video long enough to see the ‘mountain bike‘ in a cyclocross race in the early 60s.

May be so – but until he starts running everywhere backwards (and gets run over twice) I’ve got a new hero CX’er.
